It does not have to cost money, there are a lot of fitness groups in communities large and small that meet several times a week. Having a partner or group will also keep you motivated as you will be accountable to someone other then yourself. If you bail you will be letting yourself down as well as your partner or group.
Having a friend or family member involved can also help keep you on track with your eating habits as well, if your best friend is your exercise buddy it is doubtful that you are going to eat a burger and fries when you meet them for lunch.
Having a partner or group beside you will also give you the encouragement and confidence to push yourself further. You will find it easier to try new activities, things you never thought possible. It is always easier to keep going when you have real supporters who are rooting you on.
